What Can You Do To Stop Deforestation?

Many organizations are helping deforestation, but this does not mean you cannot. You can also help.

Some things you can do are:

    Educate your family
         If you even just have a little time to talk to your family it will help. You can tell your family about the problem, and what it is doing to our world and they will also try to help stop  this issue.

    Donate to organizations
        Some organizations are making reserved areas that deforestation is not aloud in, if you donate a small bit of money it could help them try to get rid of deforestation.

    Plant trees
     

 Planting trees will help restore the tree's that have been cut down. It will also give the oxygen that this world will need. 

    Be careful when shopping
        When you go shopping you can find products that are made of recycled wood, or wood that has been taken from trees that have naturally fallen over. This will help put an end to wood being used as products, and will lower the extent of deforestation

What Are Organizations, Companies, and Individuals Doing to Help Stop Deforestation Today?

Many things are being done to stop deforestation. Many businesses and organizations are helping.

Many countries have been setting up laws to help protect the forests, the United States of America has two. One of these laws is the Roadless Rule. The Roadless rule is law number 88-577.  This rule was finalized on September 3rd, 1964. It was written by Howard Zahniser. 9.1 million acres of land is under federal protection, because of this law. The other law is the Wilderness Act. It was created on January 12th, 2001. This protects 58.5 million acres of land. The Wilderness Act makes sure none of these forests are logged or deforested.

The WWF has also been doing a lot to help deforestation. They have set up many protected areas around the country, and have also started the GFTN. The GFTN is the global forest & trade network. This joins many other companies around the world together. They have one goal, to stop deforestation.

Another thing that is being done is the zero deforestation policy.This is trying to make people use less deforestation while using the following: paper, palm oil, soy, and timbre. 

There is also one more policy, the paper procurement policy. This encourages people to use more recycled wood, pulp, and fiber. 

What is the extent of deforestation in the world? In Kenya?

There is a lot of deforestation happening in the world, but actually how much of it is happening. 

60 percent of all of the deforestation comes from seven countries, these countries are Brazil, Canada, the United States of America, Indonesia, China, Russia, and Congo. 

29 percent of earth is covered in land. 30 percent of this is covered in forests. 

90 percent of forests have disappeared. Since earth was around there were many forest, of these forests 10 percent remain. 80 percent of this destruction is because of deforestation.

6.2 percent of deforestation is in Kenya. 

12,600 hectares of land is cut down each year in Kenya. 

15 million to 12 million hectares of land are cut down each year all over the world.

What Are The Effects Of Deforestation

Many things can come from deforestation, but they are much worse than you think. But what are they?

These effects are:

    Loss of species

       A lot of animal species live in these forests, when they are cut down, the animals are forced to move out and some of them die from loss of habitat. Some people rely on hunting in these forests, once the forests are cut down, these people have trouble feeding them and their family. 

    Carbon emissions

       Plants absorb these emissions, and keep them out of the atmosphere. When the plants are cut down they release these emissions back in the air.      

    Water cycle

        The water is stored in the plants, they keep the air moist. When they are cut down

they will disrupt the water cycle and make the air dryer. 

     Soil erosion

       The soil will dry up, and because the roots are not there anymore the soil can get away. This will result in less farming and more floods. 

     Life quality 

       Because of deforestation there will be bad working conditions. There will be more mud, rocks, and dirt flying everywhere. There also will be more dirty water due to soil erosion.

What Are The Causes Of Deforestation?

Everything is caused by some thing or some one, including deforestation. There are many reasons why deforestation is happening. These are the reasons why.

One reason why deforestation is happening is because of urbanization. Countries all over the world are having difficulties of over population. This means they need more land. To get more land some countries will cut down a large piece of forests, then will build houses on these pieces of land. Countries also run out of room when making roads, this also results in the loss of forests.

Another reason why deforestation is happening is because of wood. When trees are cut

down they are made into many other things. These things are paper, matchsticks, furniture, house frames, and fuel. To make fuel they use fire wood and charcoal. One thing about logging is that it is illegal in some places. People still do it because they need money to support them self and for there family.

One other reason why deforestation is happening is because of farming. Cattle ranching is a main reason of farming. When the cow's, sheep, goats, and other cattle graze, they sometimes run out of room, or eat to much and is forced to move. When there is no room they find forests and make room there. Also crops hurt the forests. When the soil gets bad and they run out of space they turn to the forests. The forests have lots of room and have very fertile soil.

What Is Deforestation?

Deforestation is happening all over the world today, but some people have no idea what it is. Right now you will begin to learn about deforestation?

Deforestation is the cutting, clearing, and removing of tree's and plants. Deforestation does not mean cutting down just one tree instead it means cutting them down acres after acres.

Deforestation is a very big problem. If deforestation is not stopped now then there will be many horrible consequences. Some problems have already started. 

Forests are very important to us. They supply us with oxygen, shade, wood, and many other things. If we cut these forests down, then we are not going to be able to have these things anymore.

Many people do not realize that they are harming our world so much, when they are cutting these forests. The only way to stop this world wide problem is to act. You can do as much as any one else can.
